     It's Time! Both award-winning books, Opal Cutting Made Easy and Opal Advanced Cutting & Setting are now Out-of-Print so Paul decided to include the content of both titles in a NEW EDITION.

     Instead of simply re-printing both titles, the decision was made to completely revise the two titles, expanding and enhancing the text to include ALL CABOCHONS...whether they be agate, chrysoprase, petrified wood, tigereye, etc. DON'T WORRY...Opal has two complete sections (beginning & advanced) which includes all the tips and tricks of the original books but includes updated locations, techniques and contact information.

     In his unique approach to teaching, Dr. Downing takes each of several agates and opals from rough through cutting and wax design to a completed piece of jewelry. The result of all the detailed, Step-by-Step instructions creates a book that will teach you everything you need to know.

Even if you have his original titles, you will find that this new book is in a class of its own.

     A Beginner? Experienced Cutter? This book is for each of you. Dr. Downing begins with a beautiful piece of agate. You will follow along with both step-by-step instructions and photos so you SEE how to approach your first agate.

     Next you will proceed to cut other gemstones before advancing to the Opal Sections.

     With your stones cut, you will learn how to design a setting for each of the stones cut in the book. Again, you will follow along with accurate photos and diagrams, making sure you understand each step.
